Fever- Home Remedies



Fever is a common disease that is very much prevalent all over world on lesser or greater extent. Its characteristic sign is an elevation of body temperature above the normal range of 36.5–37.5 °C (98–100 °F). Increased muscle tone and shivering are also marked. Fever is known as "Pyrexia" in medical terms.


Home remedies:
  • If the fever does not exceed 102 degrees, don't treat its as it helps the body to fight infection.
  • Drink as much water as you can in order to avoid dehydration. It will also help reduce the body  temperature.
  • Take utmost rest.
  • Avoid sudden changes in atmospheric temperatures. Means don't move out in the atmosphere from too hot to too cold or vice versa.
  • Take cold bathes. But if fever is accompanied with common cold, headache, sneezing; take warm bathe.
  • In some individuals, taking warm bathe is only cure of the fever as the reason for fever is wide in variety so is its treatment. Take cold or warm bath taking into account your condition and preference.
  • Avoid heavy meal until the fever is gone. You can take fruit juices.
  • When a child has fever, avoid giving them aspirin, instead try to treat the fever with cold baths.
  • Always sleep with the blanket on and AC/fan off. Perspiration will reduce the fever naturally.
  • You can take Paracetamol 250mg thrice a day/500mg twice a day to combat fever. However Paracetamol is not recommended if you are having liver problems.
