Sensation of pain in or around the tooth is called toothache. It causes inflammation, irritation and swelling of the area around the affected tooth. Toothache is a common problem found in all age groups due to unhealthy eating habits. Causes for toothache are tooth decay, mouth bacteria, tooth cavity and excessive consumption of soft drinks, chocolates and sugar.

- Place a garlic clove, dipped in rock salt, under the affected tooth. You can also chew a clove of garlic every morning. Avoid the use of garlic if you have ever suffered or suffering from Peptic Ulcers.
- Place a lukewarm teabag over the aching tooth. This would provide instant relief.
- Chew a raw onion everyday. It kills all the germs in the mouth.
- Increase the use of lime in your diet as lime serves as a rich source of Vitamin C & effective in curing all the dental problems.
- Add a pinch of salt in 3-4 drops of mustard oil. Massage the jaws with this mixture. Not only it provides relief from toothache, but also make the gums and jaws strong.
- Grind some asafetida and lemon juice and mix them well. Heat this solution slightly. Dip a cotton ball in it and place it over the affected tooth.
- Apply clove oil over the affected tooth.
- Wheat grass also proves to be beneficial in the treatment of toothache. Chew a piece of wheat grass at time of pain. It would help providing relief.
- Put 2-3 drops of vanilla extract on the aching tooth.
- Chew some leaves of the guava tree.
- Soak a cotton ball in brandy and squeeze it over the affected tooth.
