Sunburn Home Remedies



 Summer is all  about heat, heat & excessive heat. Dehydration, discomfort & fatigue are utmost common in this weird season. But the biggest problem that one faces during summer is Sunburn. However its mistaken notion that sunburns are seen in summer only. Actually sunburn can result in any season when a person over-exposes himself to sunrays.

Sunburn is reffered to a burn that results from exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Over exposure to sun rays and ultraviolet light are the main causes of sunburn. The consequences of sunburn are varied ranging from permanent disability to even death. Even skin cancers are reported in some cases. Symptoms include pain, heat and redness in the affected area alongwith tenderness.

Home Remedies For Sunburn

  • Aloevera gel is the most trusted name when it comes to burns. Apply it gently on the affected area of the skin to see its miraculous effects.
  • Applying a cloth dipped in milk on affected area is an age-old & time tested remedy for sunburn. 100% working.
  • If you are troubled by the itching burnt skin, then mustard oil may come to your rescue. Apply it gently on affected area to relief from itching.
  • Mix wheat flour, milk and olive oil to make a paste. Apply this paste on the affected area. After the paste dries, wash it off.
  • Cucumber is well known for its soothing effect. Apply slices of it on affected area for better relief.
  • Sandalwood paste is the best for burning sensation in general & specifically by sunburn. Apply it locally on affected part.
  • Boil some cabbage leaves and make paste from them. Apply the paste over the tanned and sun-burnt areas. Wash off it after 15 minutes.
  • Make a puree of 2 tomatoes & cucumber and apply it on sun-burnt skin. Allow it to dry; then wash off. Do it twice a day. It will not only help in soothing the burn but also re-glow your tanned skin.
  • Add 1 tbsp of turmeric powder in 3 tablespoons of milk. Apply this all over the affected area. When dried, wash of gently with circular massage.
